Bobble Ear Warmer

Football season is a favorite in our house! With family playing Pop Warner and our New England blood’s natural tug to love the Patriots, it is hard not to become fans of fall’s favorite sport.
With the season starting in the summer heat and ending in the chilly days of winter, we need to keep ourselves warm and cozy when cheering from the sidelines.
This Bobble Earwarmer is ideal for not just warmth and style; you can change out the yarns for your own favorite team’s colors! Below are the pattern and details on how I made our New England Patriots-inspired Bobble Earwarmer.

The need-to-know stitches are Slip Stitch, Single Crochet, Half Double Crochet, and Puff.
Then pick two or three iconic colors, and you are ready to tackle this crochet project!

An ideal yarn is “Overjoyed Yarn,” a soft yarn with a light shine to the fiber, found affordably at Walmart; with a variety of solid colors, you are most likely to find the right ones to represent your team!

NOTES

  • If you are working with two colors, instead of the noted three, use the secondary color for the secondary and accent color rows.
  • When swapping out your colors, use single crochet and make sure you are continuing to turn your piece when starting the row. Directionality is essential for the Puffs to remain on the same side. The < and > denote the direction of the rows to remind you of turning.

Make the Twist

Lay your piece flat, with the right side facing you (the bobble side).

Bring both ends up, folding each to look like parenthesis facing each other.

Close the ends layering them into each other; from the top down, it would be Top Left parenthesis, Top Right Parenthesis, Bottom Left parenthesis, Bottom Right parenthesis.

Sew all four layers together.

Flip the piece inside right, showing the bobble side.

I hope you are kept warm and cozy by your new Bobble Ear Warmer and that you enjoy repping your favorite sports team’s colors!

Respectfully yours,

Heather Poppins
